A Laboratory of Cynical Perception 2013 Olfactory–acoustic scenario
'A Laboratory of Cynical Perception' is a body of work exploring ‘cynical perception’ through drawings, smell, sculptures and sound. The Cynics were an ancient Greek philosophical school who believed achieving mental clarity and living in harmonious agreement with nature was one’s life purpose. Emanating from a bubbling aquarium and wax sculptures are the scents of amber, cypriol, civet, saffron and cumin - smells the Cynics thought to have special cerebral properties.
