CONVERSATION ASPHALT AND SALT, Clove Gallery, London

Conversation Asphalt and Salt
1996
Olfactory sculpture

When an artist makes an artwork there will always be a decision as to which
material is right for the argument and communication.
In ‘Conversation Asphalt and Salt’ the smell of the asphalt—a form of petroleum—fills the gallery space and visitors are invited to taste the sea salt filling the asphalt form.
This monochrome sculpture plays with the concept of containment
and initiates a dialogue of the senses.
