Conductor, Symphony for a Mute Bird
2016
Olfactory-acoustic scenario

In recent years Iberian White Storks, large mute and migratory birds, have stopped travelling in winter to the African continent. Instead they stay in Spain and Portugal. 'Conductor, Symphony for a Mute Bird' is a visual, sonic and olfactory composition dedicated to 'observe' this break in natural migratory cycles. These are a product of human interference. An aquarium filled with black liquid holds a smell composition of 'wooden' notes. The sound component is a chorus of animal calls, many of the calls belonging to those at risk of extinction. A marionette in the role of the conductor stands on a microwave oven, directing as he looks up at a large nest sitting on a two-metre tall reflective column. The mirrored pillar makes all those perceiving an inextricable part of this scenario.
